It was an honor and pleasure to have laughed and worked with Paquito. His love of life and family were a wondrous thing to behold, as was your fatherly joy and pride at his growth.
You are and will be in our prayers for comfort and rest, our tears and pain for your loss.

I know my words won't help much, but please accept my condolences to your and your family.
Un abrazo,
Kenneth

Thats what you get for invading a country and electing GWB. You get what you deserve.
Paco,
I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear about this news. Man, I can't imagine the ache that's in your heart.
Personally, I'd like to thank you and your family for allowing him to do his job so that me and my family are safe here. You all have made that ultimate sacrifice and we can never be grateful enough.
I am sorry to hear about your son, it seemed I was just reading about him, I suppose on your blog about his aspirations to be an artist. My prayers are with you.
Paquito was a great guy to be around. I'm sorry to see this happen. Rest in peace.
I feel very much... :( There isn't many things can be said at these moments, just... to remember is to live.
Paco,
I want you to know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this time.
Paco,
I know you only through your work on the Mono project and seeing your blog a few times. Yet I feel very affected by your family's loss. Perhaps because you have made your love for your son so obvious in your occaisional postings about him. I saw the Monologue blog yesterday, and when I got home from work, I cried. And of course, my sadness can not compare to the greif and pain you and your family feels now.
I pray that your grief may be eased by happier memories and the presence and support of family, friends, and even strangers like me.
Paco,
I am still in shock from Sunday. At a loss for word and ideas to help you and your family, I want to express my sadness at a loss of your son, our brother. Fraternite.
Erik
Paco,
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Paco,
I wish that in some magical way, that the sorrow from your friends around the world helps in some small way to ease your pain. I hope that with every tear we shed, you gain strength to endure this tragedy. May the memory of Paquito remain with us all forever.
Kevin, Sonia, Anaeli, Michelle, and Niveka
Paco,
I want to say how deeply sorry I am for your loss. It is so apparent to everyone here how much you love your son, how he was your light. My prayers go out to you and your family that God will be there to help you and your family with your loss. Again, I can not begin to express how deeply sorry I am. God bless you and your family.
Paquito,
I did not get to meet you in this life, but I feel I know you through the expressions of joy and love your father shared with us. Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice. Because of you and your fellow servicemen, we are free. You have my undying gratitude forever. God bless you.
Paco,
The thoughts and prayers of my family are with you during this difficult time. Godspeed!
Respectfully,

Mr. Martinez, I knew you're son, we use to date. I am truly sorry for your loss, but you're son was one of the best people i knew, and he will stay near my heart.
I was a friend of franks from highschool, I cannot tell you how much I am sorry about what has happend...
I wish the best for your family, and I wont forget frank's memory
And everyone knows how much he was loved.
Paco,
I can't tell you how saddened I am to hear about Paquito. He was a good man; I'm honored to have known him and worked with him. I hope the statements of love and support from myself and the others who have posted here provide some small consolation to you, Maria, and Monica. We'll be here for you if you need anything at all.
I did not know your son but my very good friend was stationed with him in Iraq. He emailed me and told me what happened. I feel like I knew him though. My friend Jason talked about him all the time. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. He will be missed by all.
Paco,
I am so sorry to hear the horrible news about Paquito. I really don't know what to say in times like this. God bless you and your family. You all are in my prayers.

Paco,
Its very difficult even knowing what to say at a time like this. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I know you were very, very proud of Paquito and the road he chose. His passing only serves as a testament that there are still fearless young men willing to go into harms way to protect their country. Both you and I know that the friends you have in the military are as close as brothers and he gave the ultimate sacrifice helping them and protecting us back home. You should be proud of the son you raised because I know we all are.
My families thoughts and prayers are with you. I will be talking to you soon.
Sincerely,
Rich
Paco,
I did not have the opportunity to meet your son but I think that many of us got a small sense of him through your online postings and from his own website. Certainly, you expressed much love and pride for him online.

God bless you all.

Familia Martinez, I so sorry for your loss, and thankful for young men like Francisco, thanksful for families like yours and most thankful for his service to our country and his, and your, sacrifice. I don't quite know what to say, but I offer a prayer for you and for Francisco, for now he truly walks with our Lord.
God Bless you and Keep you in the fullness of his love and mercy.
You have my condolences & my thoughts. Thank you, sir, for your service.
Vaya Con Dios...
He died with honor and my undying gratitude. When I encounter soldiers, I feel a certain shame that I was never one. Those who opposed his actions feel the same shame, but they express their shame in a shameful manner.
I am so very sorry - every parent's worst nightmare come true. It may not help, but your family has my eternal thanks, that men such as your son will step up when we need them. My prayers are with you and your family.
I am weeping for your loss. A greatful nation honors you for the sacrifice of your wonderful young son. There are no words to express the debt we owe to your family. We will never forget Pacquito and all his comrades.
My heart breaks at hearing the loss of this great man. You will be in my prayers and thoughts with you as you cope with this tremendous loss.
You have lost a loved one, we have lost a brave and true American.
I grieve with you for this loss. It can never be enough, but I share this pain... I have a son, 17, who is thinking hard about joining the military and I have always supported him in anything he chose to do... and he has ME thinking hard. About freedom, and our country and what it is worth... if he chooses to go he will go with my support and prayers.
Tonight, I will pray for your family first.
mac
I really have no words to express for your loss. Just know that your family will be in my wife's and my thoughts and prayers.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Know that your son's death was a noble one and that we all owe him a debt of gratitude for his service to his country in particular and to humanity in general. He is a hero.
If a man hasn't discovered something that he would die for, he isn't fit to live. You son has....
My condolences and prayers go out to your family in this time of sorrow.

Mr. Martinez, I do not have the words to express my condolences to you and your family. Your son was a fine example of what allows our country to endure and continue. May his memory always shine bright for all.
He has carried on a tradition with his service to our nation. He was a member of the 9th Infantry Regiment, whose motto is "Keep up the Fire!"
This motto was stated by Colonel Emerson H. Liscum as he directed the attack on the city walls in Tiensten, China while holding the unit colors until he was mortally wounded. His last words to his men were "Keep Up The Fire!"
The tradition of keeping up the fire continues to this day.
SSG Michael Sayer (Ret.), member of the 9th Infantry Regiment (4th Bn, 9th Inf) 1977-1980
I'm so very sorry for your lose. Not only was he a great son to you and his sister I'm sure, but he was one of my best soldiers I've ever had in my 18 years in the Army. He will be deeply missed by us all that know him. I'm sorry to say, but the guys he was with in Iraq are taken this really hard and that just goes to show you how much he meant to everyone. God bless you and your family and call on me if there is anything I can do from here....SFC Kevin Kirchoffer

It is because of people like him that we live in freedom
May he rest in peace and may God comfort you in your grief.
God will help you through this time. My words of condolences cannot possibly come close to the pain you are feeling. Wish I could take it upon myself for you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I'm so sorry for your loss, your family and friends are in my prayers. Thank you for the service of your loved one.
Paco,
I will be praying for your family as you have lost a true American Hero.
My many condolances for your loss. Your son is a true American hero whose death provides freedom for millions for generations to come.
Please know that your will be met by generations of heros who have saved a special place for him. While this is of little comfort, it is the place where warriors find the most comfort until their families eventually join them. God bless you and your family. Your son is in good company, until you see him again.
Sincerely, Major Mike.
Dear Paco,
To the Mother, Father, and Fiance of Francisco Gregorio Martinez: I pray you find solace in the arms of Our Lord. I know no other way. I am so sorry, but it was not for nothing. I just want you to know that.
I know it isn't fair, but who am I to ask of God what is? I guess I just don't have any of the right words, if there are any, so I will just, "God bless, keep, and love you."
"He will raise you up on eagle's wings, make you to fly like the sun and hold you in the palm of His hand."
A grateful nation pauses to weep the loss of one of its protectors.
I am so thankful to God for the spirit of brave young men that so many would stand for us. While I know you are in agony with Francisco's passing, remember that my family is in your debt. May Francisco rest a warrior's rest, and may you find comfort.
you are so strong to write it here

Thank you for the service of your son.
Sir,
Our prayers and sympathy to you and your family. Your son is in our thoughts, and his life is honored.
DCE and family
I offer my sincerest condolances to the family and fiance of a heroic American Soldier. I too, have lost someone in this war. He was my sister's only child.
He was a true hero and He did not die in vain just as my nephew died. Be proud of him.
God bless you all. I will be praying.
Thank you for the blog sir. I know of no other nation whose people have the collective will and courage to sacrifice their own lives for another country's cause, yet encompass so many differences in opinion amongst yourselves. This is what makes your America truly great. Whatever your enemies may say, you are courageous and strong.
I'm sorry to hear of Francisco's passing. Though words are but cold comfort at a time like this, an Air Force family mours your loss along with you. Thank you for raising a child that thought enough of his country, and his fellow man to devote himself to the miltary. I am so sorry he had to pay this dear a price, but there are so many that are more grateful than they will ever be able to express.
Via con Dios Francisco, and may God bring peace and comfort to your family...
What can I add that has not been said?
I never knew him but Francisco was my Brother...
Why our Father called him home I do not know...
I'm sure he watches over those he loved...
As he stands before the Throne of God...
May the Lord Bless and Comfort each of you in this time of great sorrow.
so sorry to hear of your loss :(
"And when our work is done, our course on Earth is run,
May it be said WELL DONE, be thou at peace."
These words come from the United State Military Academy's Alma Mater...I'm not capable of coming up with such appropriate words at this time.
Be thou at peace, my comrade in arms.

You have my deepest condolences for your loss. Know how honored he is and we'll never forget his courage.
Deepest condolences to Francisco's family and friends. He is with God.
I am so saddened by this loss. Please know that there are many of us who are greatly touched by Francisco and who honor him. My young children know of his loss and about his (and so many other people like him)extreme efforts to protect us and our families. I will not forget this man nor will I ever take for granted the service and sacrifices he and his family made for people who never had the chance to meet him and know him as a friend.
Love and Honor
God Bless him. Thank you for fighting to keep me and my family free.
God Bless America
Too late to say it personally, but THANK YOU for everything you did for our great country. You were truly one of the greatest. Freedom isn't free, and to those of you who lay down their lives for the rest of us, we will be eternally (literally) grateful.
God bless your family to find peace through the knowledge that your son was obviously a very brave and good man. You have sacrificed so much, but done so for we who crave freedom and peace. Know always, you are not alone. This is important for you to hold onto.
Take care, peace

First and Foremost, Thank you to Paquito for serving our country. I am truely sorry that your sons life was taken at such a young age. He will be remembered as a hero and as someone who loved his country. Thank you to you "his parents" for teaching him the value of fighting for what you believe in and that serving others is an honor. My thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with you now and in the future.

Words are so inadequate in circumstances like these.
You will be in my prayers and I want you to know that a grateful nation stands behind you, promising never to forget the sacrifice of your loved one and vowing to uphold the ideals that he gave up his life for.
May G-d Almighty Bless You and Give You Strength.
My sadness is for you and the loss of a citizen who applied himself to the fullest.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the skies.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.
Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.
Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest.
Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.
Thanks and praise, For our days,
'Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.
God Speed Soldier! You will forever live with Honor! Our sincerest condolences to the family. May God hold you close in your moments of grief!

it's not a cliche, although it feels like one now. it's God's word to you that you're loss is felt by Him also. and by everyone who was made safer by his sacrifice. this young made a difference that was felt in the heavenly places.

Please accept my most sincere condolences and deepest sympathies for the loss of your son.
Our son Matt was stationed in Iraq with Paquito and spoke often of his buddy Martinez with affection. He always said he was his best friend. We share your sorrow and feel we too have lost someone dear and close to us. We have no words to ease your pain only that we pray that God will give you strength and be your refuge in this most painful time.
Our prayers and tears are for your comfort on Easter. May we all thank your son, in person, when we meet him with the Lord.
Monica, you and our son, Wayne, will live in freedom because of the sacrifice of your brother and other heroes. He is a great American.
Mirela, God bless you for giving your man, dreams, and love to our country.
Mom, Dad (I can't imagine your loss), Mirela, little Monica, our nation thanks you for your sacrifice.
I hope all of the world knows how blessed we are because God sacrificed His Son. Today we celebrate the Firstborn of the Resurrection. He is Risen, indeed.
America, God shed His Grace on thee.

Was moved to tears at the news of the loss of a man I didn't know. Rest assured the American people will never forget the honor, dedication, and sacrifice of men like Francisco. May God bless you and your family.
Because of your generous and important contributions, we can share your sorrow in France.
May God Bless you and your family during this
difficult time. Francisco was one of the best
America had to offer. Please know how very sorry
I am.
God bless you & your family. Francisco is with the many heroes in heaven. I can't imagine the pain you're feeling. Our nation is better because of heroes like Francisco--& your family--willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. In 30-40 years, when Iraq (& other mideastern countries) is a prosperous democratic country, these young men & women will still be remembered & respected for their efforts--much as we remember the sacrifices another generation made to free Europe from a tyranny. Greater love hath no man than he give his life for another.
With my deepest sympathy, I'm sorry for your loss.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Paco,
May God watch over your family at this time of
sadness...You will remember all the good times
you had as Francisco grew to be the man he was
and to the man he became...Thank God there are
men like him doing a job no one else can do or
will do...Because of men like Francisco we may
never have to worry about the next time we go
to a movie or shopping having a bomb go off and
kill hundreds of people...GOOD LUCK AND GOD SPEED.... REGARDS

I join with others here, and around the country, in expressing my sadness for your loss. Every time I hear of another loss, I feel humbled, that these incredible people are putting their lives on the line for my freedom. There are no adequate words to express how much appreciation I have for your son's sacrifice, and that of many others that have gone before him. Please know that your family is in my prayers, and I will continue to lift you up and to pray for comfort for you and your family and friends.

I am deeply moved with sorrow by your loss of Paquito, as I have been for all the families of our brave men and women citizens who have paid the utimate sacrifice for freedom. But I am just a deeply moved by pride in their service to America and their devotion to duty. After more than two centuries of history, I can only wonder: where do we continue to get such men and women?
Paco y Maria,
Lamento mucho la perdida de Paquito, y espero que Dios los bendiga en estos momentos. Recuerden que la inmortalidad se lleva en nuestros corazones. Dios los bendiga.

There simply are not the words to give proper honor to the sacrifice Paco has made for my family, community , country. I pray for your strength when you are weak, for your comfort at this time of loss.
I am so sad at your loss. It just breaks my heart to hear this. May time and God ease your pain. God Bless Frank and his family.
Francisco is to be honored: Washington, Franklin, and Jefferson deserve no higher honor than Francisco Martinez from this Country.
If Iraq suceeds in becoming a free country, he will deserve the highest honors as one of the people who made it possible.
I beleive that everything sacrificed in this life will be returned many fold in the next.

I am so soory about your lost. My prayers are with you and your family. May God bless you
Mi ms sentido psame y apoyo para t y para tu familia.

Nothing is worth losing even one good person.
Unfortunately, only by putting good people in harm's way can we give hope to the oppressed.
I am humbled by one so willing to take the risk to do what he believes in.
i just do not know what to say but i just want you to know that you are in my prayer bcos i have once been throw this before
Sir:
I know nothing I could say could begin to make any sense of your loss and pain. I heard a commentary this afternoon about your son's loss.
My older son is currently in training, and I don't know if he will end up in harm's way or not. Your brave son, your family, and all our children and people are in my prayers and thoughts.

Though it is hard to see the good in a trajedy such as this. Knowing how hard Paco fought, what an amazing soldier he was, and how his memory will never be forgotten is not solice at this time. Though he was and is loved, is remembered and will always be. It will never ease the pain in your hearts.
May he rest in peace, and may God be with you at this hard time.
Thanks to author for this blog
